Faction split of 2007

The Faction Split of 2007 is a term given to the splitting of what was formerly Acmlm's Board into two distinct boards, both bearing the name "Acmlm's Board" for a time. Despite breaking from the same board, members of the two board factions are not generally on good terms with one another.

[edit] Synopsis
The split began as a result of ||bass letting FreeDOS + onto the admin staff without any discussion/etc with Xkeeper, supposedly to help the latter out with handling a Linux system. FreeDOS + then messed up parts of the forum and a few other things, which in turn caused Xkeeper to become angry and ban him repeatedly. Eventually things snowballed and Xkeeper resigned, causing chaos to break out on the board. Many members of the board also threatened to leave with Xkeeper. Xk, in a last effort to show his displeasure with the new administration of the board, used his remaining access to the server to edit the board's layout, making the board inaccessible for a time. Upon finding the board in this state, ||bass took the board offline, restoring it from a day-old backup.
At this time, Xkeeper and Acmlm decided to finish Acmlm's "board2" project and make it into a usable board. ||bass, some time after restoring the backup, again took the board offline, this time replacing it with a similar board written by himself. Those people who were still at the old board stayed and created the fourth incarnation of the board (later named ||board). Meanwhile, Xkeeper and Acmlm finished making "board2" usable and thus created their official fourth incarnation (named Acmlm's Board II). Since ||bass owns the acmlm.org domain, his board retains the board.acmlm.org web address. Acmlm/Xk's board is set up at acmlm.no-ip.org.
[edit] Current Situation
Due to a deep mutual discord between the two forums' administration, a fusion of any kind is not likely at this time. While ||board filters the URL of Acmlm's Board II to their own and has a harsh policy against information on the incident, the community of Acmlm's Board II has repeatedly bashed ||board and engaged in flamewars with its members.
While some former members have chosen one board or the other to stick with, others decided to still visit both boards, at least for the time being, and others have simply left both boards entirely.

From the faction split came two new boards, Acmlm's Board II and ||board.

Xkeeper and Acmlm decided to open this board, based on Acmlm's "board2," on a separate server hosted by blackhole89. Because this board was rewritten from scratch, many features from the previous branches of Acmlm's Board, including layouts, ranks, and the ACS, are unimplemented and/or buggy. The ROM Hacking/SMW Hacking approval system has been removed for now, and it is unknown when or if it will be re-implemented.

||bass decided to open a new board, coded entirely by himself and based on the old Acmlmboard look. Ignoring the criticism he received for having a board that looked "ugly" at first, he is slowly fixing his board from the rather broken state it was in when the split first occurred. He has kept the ROM/SMW-Hacking approval system, though other features are still missing. It is interesting to note that some of the previously banned members on Incarnation 3 of Acmlm's Board have become staff at ||board (Cymoro, Legion, Zem(?)) while others (knuck, Keikonium) seem to have some sort of "VIP" status.
Despite not having a bot reporting posts, many members of this board congregate at the #nobodysworld IRC channel on DeltaAnime.net.
