This is the main page for Project ROMhax.

In, what is probably AcmlmWiki's most important project, Project ROMhax, we are documenting and keeping a page on all ROM hacks that are released using Acmlm's Board as a medium.

[edit] Method

The template code used on a page for a ROM hack to set the infobox looks like this -

{{romhackinfobox | title =
| logo =
| author =
| basegame =
| reldate =
| difficulty =
| length =
}}
  • For Title, put the full title of the hack. It is automatically bolded and italicized.
  • For logo, upload an image logo that represents the hack - it can be an image of the title screen, or, failing that, an in-game screenshot is acceptable. 200x200 is probably as big as you can get away with.
  • For Author, put the name of the ROM hacker.
  • For basegame, put the title of the original game the hack is based off of.
  • For reldate, put the date the hack was released. It might be a good idea to ask the hacker who made it, or to search their old posts/threads for it. If the hack is in demo stages, put "under development". If the hack is iced, put "iced", logically enough.
  • For difficulty, put the difficulty. Use a generic term, like "easy" or "medium". If the game progresses in difficulty, put "Progressive".
  • For Length, put the number of hours one should expect to complete it. I'll leave you to your own methods of how to get this fact.

[edit] Vanity is welcome

We encourage you, if you've made a hack, to write a page about it and put it on the wiki. We can offer help if you need it (or at least, I am <_<). Since obviously the author is the person who will know the hack best, it will portray the most accurate information. You can get away with a little bit of ego, but if it's excessive, it'll be cut out because of the NPOV policy.

[edit] Example

Here are some good articles for you to get the idea of the "style" of writing an article about your ROM hack. Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be long... but it needs to be long enough that you could, say, post a thread with just that link on the forum and not get it locked.

[edit] Joining

Joining Project ROMhax is simple. To mark yourself as a member, you can put the userbox at AcmlmWiki:Project ROMhax/userbox on your userpage. Set it by copy/pasting everything between the quotes: "{{AcmlmWiki:Project ROMhax/userbox}}". You will want to set up a table to hold your userboxes; they cannot align themselves correctly without one. If you don't want the userbox, you can instead put Category:Members of Project ROMhax.

You can also introduce yourself if you want on the talk page of this project, but its not neccessary.

[edit] Awards

People who have done a lot for Project ROMhax can receive an award that they can display on their userpage... if we can get someone to design an award for them. Don't worry about this too much though; contributing is its own reward.

[edit] Concerns

Any comments about this project should go into the talk page. If something you think is critical is left out, just bring it up. We'll be happy to fix it.
